Albany Park |
|
Albany Park's primary claim to fame is the terminus
of the Brown Line at Kimball and Lawrence. The L
trains run through alleys at grade level in this
neighborhood and in Ravenswood. Access to the
stations is made from the street by crossing the
tracks. Trains have priority over cars at the
crossings, and during rush hour, the gates go down
every few minutes. Note the images of Kedzie station
below.Albany park is a very diverse neighborhood,
both in terms of building stock and people. Housing
varies from multi-flat and courtyard buildings near
the L, to two and three-flats further away, and to
bungalows in the western areas of the neighborhood.
Ethnically, Albany Park has large Korean, Muslim,
Jewish, and Polish populations, as well as a
multitude of other ethnic groups
